San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey is hoping to join an exclusive club with a win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII

San Francisco 49ers’ star, Christian McCaffrey, and his dad are hoping to make NFL history at Super Bowl LVIII. If the 49ers win against the Kansas City Chiefs, they’ll be the second father-son duo to win a Super Bowl with the same team.

Christian’s dad, Ed, was part of three Super Bowl-winning teams, including the 49ers in 1994 and twice with Denver Broncos. The only other father-son duo to achieve this feat are Steve and Zak DeOssie with the New York Giants.

McCaffrey – named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year on Thursday night – played a crucial role in the 49ers’ comeback victory over the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship game. The 27-year-old scored two touchdowns and covered 132 yards, securing a thrilling 34-31 win for his team.

While Christian stars in the modern NFL, both he and his father Ed also shone at Stanford during their college years. Ed was a first-team All-American in 1990, while Christian earned the same honour twice in 2015 and 2016.

He was also a Heisman runner-up in 2015 and named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year

This season, Christian made history by tying Lenny Moore’s NFL record for scoring a touchdown in 17 consecutive games. He also became the first 49ers player since the 1950s to win the NFL rushing title, with an impressive 1,459 yards.
