Breaking Just Now :Daniel Ricciardo finally to make his debut this season

Daniel Ricciardo is preparing for his first full F1 season since his McLaren contract was terminated in 2022.

Daniel Ricciardo believes that the VCARB team – recently rebranded from AlphaTauri – can be in contention for top-five finishes during the first half of the upcoming season. The 34-year-old is looking to make his case for a return to the Red Bull outfit in 2025 with Sergio Perez’s contract set to expire.

Ricciardo made his return to F1 partway through the 2023 season, replacing Nyck de Vries after the Dutchman endured a miserable start to life with AlphaTauri. After breaking his hand in a crash at the Dutch Grand Prix, the popular Aussie enjoyed a promising end to the campaign as the team climbed from tenth to eighth in the Constructors’ Championship.

VCARB – abbreviated from Visa Cash App RB – will benefit from closer cooperation with Red Bull this season as the reigning champions look to pull their sister team up the order following an extremely underwhelming 2023 campaign.

Discussing targets for the coming year after the VCARB launch, Ricciardo said: “You have to aim high, but being in this sport so long, you want to remain realistic as you don’t want to end up ultimately disappointed.

Top-fives should be a target and if we get into that position, maybe some podiums present themselves. Of course, we want to win but, you know, I think we made steps last year, let’s make a few more steps. Do I think top-five results are on the table, and could they be on the table in the first half of the season? I’d like to think so

Ricciardo has plenty of belief in the VCARB team heading into pre-season, and a strong-performing RB-01 car will give him the greatest shot of challenging for regular points finishes and putting pressure on Perez.

With key target Alex Albon contracted to Williams until the end of 2025 and Lando Norris putting pen to paper on a new deal with McLaren, Ricciardo is the most logical candidate for Red Bull to turn towards if they do decide to replace Checo. First, however, he will have to convincingly beat team-mate Yuki Tsunoda, who is heading into his fourth season in F1.
