Breaking News:WestBromwich just recieved a sad and terrible news

Ally Robertson hopes West Brom can get “one or two” signings in January and admits the fresh takeover update is “great news” for the club.

Telegraph journalist John Percy shared an update on 12 December on the EFL owners and directors’ test as a potential takeover at West Brom is now said to be “edging closer”

And Baggies legend taking to his Express & Star column (21 December) believes the update is promising news for the football club which can bring positivity heading into the new year but hopes West Brom can be active in January despite the club’s financial position.

It is believed the preferred party of the three interested consortiums – including one from the United States and another from Nigeria – would have to pass the director’s test before completing a reported £30million deal controlling stakeholder Lai.

Percy also added that the test has been “toughened up” in recent years with West Brom now facing a “race against time” to ensure Carlos Corberan’s squad isn’t picked apart in January.

Robertson, his column wrote: “I hope we can somehow get a couple of bodies in, sort whatever is going on at the top of the club with the owner Guochuan Lai and have Carlos Corberan get us into the play-offs in May.

“If he could get a player or two in he feels he needs, especially to cover the many injuries we have, then that would be ideal. But as ever we never know with the finances.

“It has been reported that the club’s takeover is moving forward in the right direction and that is great news, so long as it gets over the line, and can bring us some positivity in the new year
