Clemson, S.C. – Despite a challenging 2024 season and growing pressure from fans and media alike, Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney remains confident that greatness is on the horizon for his team.

In an exclusive interview with ESPN on Wednesday, Swinney praised the talent, chemistry, and hunger of his current squad, insisting that success is not a question of if, but when.

“The team is incredible. It’s just a matter of time,” Swinney said with conviction. “I’ve coached a lot of special groups here at Clemson, and this one is right up there. We’ve got the pieces—we just need to keep growing, stay healthy, and trust the process.”

After a rebuilding year that saw Clemson finish 8–5, questions swirled around whether the program could return to the national title conversation. But Swinney, who led the Tigers to national championships in 2016 and 2018, believes the new generation is poised to carry the torch.

“These guys are hungry. They’ve tasted disappointment and they don’t want that feeling again,” he said. “The leadership in the locker room is strong. Our quarterback’s maturing, the defense is flying around, and we’ve got depth we haven’t had in years.”

Swinney also shared his excitement about the incoming freshman class, calling it “one of the most complete” recruiting groups he’s ever brought in.

“I’m excited—not just for this season, but for the next few years,” he added. “There’s a buzz around the program again. These boys are gonna make some noise.”

The Tigers will open their 2025 campaign at home against Georgia Tech in what’s expected to be a statement game. While the road back to the College Football Playoff is never easy, Dabo Swinney has made one thing clear: Clemson is far from done.

“We’ve built a culture here. That doesn’t fade overnight,” he said. “You’ll see. Trophies are coming.
