Bearcats Football Fires Head Coach Scott Satterfield

Cincinnati, OH – The University of Cincinnati has announced the firing of head football coach Scott Satterfield following a disappointing season. Satterfield, who took the reins in 2022, leaves the program after a challenging year that saw the Bearcats struggle to find consistent success on the field.

Under Satterfield’s leadership, Cincinnati finished the season with a record of 4-8, failing to secure a bowl game for the second consecutive year. The team’s performance raised concerns among fans and administration alike, as expectations were high following the Bearcats’ previous success, including a College Football Playoff appearance in 2021.

Athletic Director John Cunningham expressed his appreciation for Satterfield’s contributions but emphasized the need for a change to align with the program’s aspirations. “We want to build a championship-level program, and it’s clear we need to make a fresh start,” Cunningham stated in a press release.

Satterfield’s tenure was marked by struggles in both recruiting and on-field execution, with the team facing numerous injuries and a lack of depth. His departure opens the door for a new coaching candidate to revitalize the Bearcats’ football program, which has a strong tradition and a passionate fan base.

As Cincinnati prepares to search for its next head coach, the focus will be on finding a leader who can restore the Bearcats to their former glory and compete at the highest levels of college football. The university plans to initiate a national search immediately, aiming to announce a new coach in the coming weeks.
