Big Packer’s offensive performance slowed exactly what Matt LaFleur meant to Romeo Doubs

One chilly afternoon at Lambeau Field, Matt LaFleur, the Green Bay Packers’ head coach, pulled wide receiver Romeo Doubs aside after practice. The sun was setting, casting a soft glow over the frozen tundra, and most of the team had already headed into the locker room. But LaFleur had noticed something in Doubs during practice—something important.

“Romeo,” LaFleur began, his tone calm but direct, “I see the way you’ve been grinding. Your work ethic, your focus—it’s different. You’re not just another player out there. You have the potential to be a game-changer for this team.”

Doubs, breathing heavily after drills, looked up, his eyes wide with surprise. “Thanks, Coach,” he replied, wiping sweat from his brow. “I’ve been trying to do my best.”

LaFleur smiled slightly, nodding. “I know. And that’s why I’m telling you this. We’re going to need more from you—starting Sunday. You’re going to be a bigger part of this offense. Rodgers trusts you, and I do too. But it’s on you to step up and own it.”

Romeo felt a rush of excitement and pressure all at once. He knew this moment was huge. “I won’t let you down, Coach,” he said, determination in his voice.

“I know you won’t,” LaFleur responded, clapping Doubs on the shoulder before heading back toward the locker room. “Now go make us proud.”

As Doubs watched him walk away, he felt a fire inside. Sunday’s game couldn’t come soon enough.
