NASCAR Icon Celebrates First NHRA Drag Racing Championship Victory..

Three-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart has added another remarkable achievement to his illustrious motorsports career, securing his first NHRA drag racing championship.

Known for his success in NASCAR, where he clinched three championship titles, and his triumph in the 1997 Indy Racing League, Stewart’s NHRA championship comes ahead of the Stewart-Haas NASCAR team leaving the sport at the end of the current season.

On Saturday in St. Louis, competing in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series North Central Division, Stewart celebrated a memorable victory behind the wheel of a McPhillips Racing Top Alcohol dragster.

In a tense final against Gary Pritchett, Stewart pulled off a time of 5.216 seconds with an astonishing speed of 274.16 mph. The race wasn’t easy; Pritchett, holding a 21-point lead, faced issues during the run, clocking in at 13.242 seconds.

Sharing the news to social media, Stewart posted:

“North Central Champs in Top Alcohol Dragster! Can’t thank my McPhillips Racing family enough for an awesome season. Had a great weekend at @WWTRaceway and battled it out against @GaryPritchettFCfor the win.”
