Curling Canada has just been hit with terrifying reports now

But the European Athletics U23 Championships which take place in Bergen, Norway from 17-20 July will be a big opportunity for some of Europe’s leading young athletes to add to their medal tallies.

European Athletics picks out six athletes to watch at next year’s European Athletics U23 Championships.

The Norwegians have another middle distance running star in the making and Andreas Fjeld Halvorsen could also be the face of the 2025 European Athletics U23 Championships in Bergen.

Halvorsen made history at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima with his victory in the men’s 3000m, becoming the first non-African man to win a long distance title in the history of a championships which dates back to 1986.

Still only 18, Halvorsen’s profile has risen significantly since his victory in Lima and the teenager will be looking for another title in another age-group on home soil next summer.

We can expect 19-year-old Roko Farkas to compete in next year’s European Athletics U23 Championships but the question is: in which event…or which events?

Farkas won a surprise gold medal in the long jump at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima with a marginally wind-aided 8.17m but he also reached the 200m semifinal at the European Athletics Championships, an event in which he holds the Croatian record at 20.67.

However, Farkas still considers himself primarily as a decathlete although a shoulder injury has forced him to focus his attentions on other disciplines in 2024. Will we see Farkas return to the combined events fold in Bergen next summer or seek additional medalware in individual events instead?
