Kurtis MacDermid Re-Signed to Three-Year Contract by Devils
Kurtis MacDermid agrees to stay with the New Jersey Devils for a period of three years.
NEWARK, New Jersey Kurtis MacDermid was re-signed by the New Jersey Devils to a $3,450,000 three-year contract on Friday morning. The contract breakdown, according to the official press release, is as follows: $1,250,000 for 2024–2025; $1,200,000 for 2025–2026; and $1,000,000.
Tom Fitzgerald, President/General Manager, made the statement.
The 30-year-old was acquired on March 1st from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for forward Zakhar Bardakov and a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, which was previously acquired from Nashville.
During his 16 Devils games, MacDermid recorded 50 penalty minutes, four fighting majors, and one assist.
MacDermid’s teammates have openly talked about his impact in the locker room and on the ice since he moved to New Jersey.
Dawson Mercer told The Hockey News, “He definitely gives that presence in the game—don’t mess around and don’t do anything stupid because he is there.
The 6-foot-5, 235-pound forward began his NHL career with the Los Angeles Kings when he signed as an undrafted free agent. He was claimed by the Seattle Kraken from the Kings during the Expansion Draft on July 21, 2021. A week later, Seattle traded him to Colorado.
