Breaking: He’s coming with the Los Angeles Rams…
Rams pass rusher Aaron Donald is expected to be a breakout star.
The Los Angeles Rams defense has undergone some major changes in recent offseason. In 2023, there was a mass exodus of veterans as the team was entering a reset year.
Some players were traded and others departed in free agency as the team looked to get younger and fix their salary cap situation. Some gems were found, but 2024 will present another challenge defensively.
That is because star defensive tackle Aaron Donald will no longer be anchoring the line in the trenches. Donald announced his retirement this offseason, creating a massive void in the middle of their defense.
Regardless of position, the future Hall of Famer was one of the NFL’s most dominant players. Even when his opponents double- and triple-teamed him, he was still able to cause chaos in the backfield.
A player of that caliber is almost impossible to replace. It will take a collective effort from the players to make up for Donald’s absence, so they must step up.
Byron Young is one player on whom the Rams will be heavily dependent. Tennessee native Young was selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft and had a stellar rookie season.
He finished with 30 total pressures, eight tackles for loss, nine sacks, and 19 quarterback hits. With appearances in all 17 games, including 16 start.
