I should’ve known that’: 49ers’ Brock Purdy has much to learn about Bay Area

 

While he hasn’t been the quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers for long, Brock Purdy is already one of the most popular people in the Bay Area. Based on one video, though, it’s clear Purdy has some more to learn about his new (and likely long-term) home.

 

Purdy was mic’d up for the Niners’ Media Day that took place last week. A three-minute behind-the-scenes clip posted Tuesday by the team is mostly benign, showing Purdy in a few different poses for picture day, before disaster strikes in the middle of the video, when Purdy is asked whether he knows what two iconic Bay Area things are.

 

The Arizona native and Iowa State grad was first asked about Karl, some locals’ nickname for San Francisco’s ever-present fog. Purdy attempted an explanation that he clearly had no belief in: “So if you’re a Karl, you’re like a bot, you’re like a guy who doesn’t do much.”
