Five-star combo guard and McDonald’s All-American Boogie Fland has requested to be released from his national letter of intent from Kentucky following the departure of head coach John Calipari to Arkansas.

Fland, a native of New York City is America’s 18th best prospect in the class of 2024 per 247sports’ composite rankings, the country’s second best combo guard and the third best prospect from the Empire State.

The 6-foot-2 guard committed to Kentucky on Oct. 20, 2023, over a final list of suitors that included Indiana and Alabama. He held additional offers from Auburn, UCONN, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kansas, Kansas State, LSU, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, Oregon, Pittsburgh, St. John’s, Syracuse, TCU, Villanova and Virginia Tech.

He signed his national letter of intent with the Wildcats on Nov 8.

Fland appeared ready to handle the pressure that comes with playing at Kentucky, speaking about the fan reaction to the Cats 2024 NCAA Tournament first round loss to Oakland during the McDonald’s All-American Game Media Day in Houston on April 1.
