Breaking just in now:Denver Nuggets seal a potential world class deal with prospects
It’s been fun to see the Nuggets catching March Madness fever and enjoying the college tournaments. First, we heard Nikola Jokic raving about DJ Burns of NC State, and how the Joker was late to his press conference because he was watching the Wolfpack and their big man take down Duke in the Elite 8.
Then on Sunday, coach Michael Malone was asked about the women’s tournament and he opened up and spoke glowingly. He commented on multiple different teams and players and how exciting the tournament has been overall
He also said that the Nuggets locker room has been buzzing about the women’s tourney and that it was great to overhear his players arguing about whether or not the offensive foul was called correctly at the end of the Iowa vs. UConn Final Four game
This has been an amazing season and time for women’s basketball and it’s been really cool to see NBA players and coaches taking notice and supporting the game. Caitlin Clark has been the headliner but there is a ridiculous amount of talent and star power in the game today.
Malone specifically mentioned Clark, but also Paige Bueckers of UConn, Juju Watkins of USC, and Dawn Staley coaching South Carolina going undefeated with a brand new starting five this season.
It’s not every day that women’s basketball and female athletes in general are at the center of the sports world like this, so it’s great to see them getting their flowers. The ladies put on a great show all season and we got treated to an excellent tournament.
Ultimately it was the South Carolina Gamecocks, led by their coach Dawn Staley who cut down the nets and won it all, the third National Championship for the school. The Gamecocks had an incredible season, going 38-0, and wrapping things up with an 87-75 victory over Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday.
