News update:Logan O’Connor ask for fans support for quick recovery

Logan O’Connor will undergo season-ending hip surgery and will miss the remainder of the season, Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar confirmed on Sunday.

The 27-year-old has been dealing with the injury for most of the season. O’Connor missed the last two games, and Bednar indicated that the injury kept him out of the lineup earlier in the season.

“We had an idea that it wasn’t going well for him,” the Avalanche head coach said

Colorado was among the most active teams at the trade deadline, bolstering their bottom-six forwards. Bednar was asked if the moves were related to O’Connor’s injury.

“I would say, yes,” he said. “Adding depth is important regardless, especially when you potentially know you’re getting bad news on a guy that has played for us all year long.”

At the time of the announcement, O’Connor had already established a career-best in goals (13) and TOI (14:57) in 57 games played. The former University of Denverd standout was also on pace to set a career-high in points, with his 25 points only one behind last year’s mark.

Bednar was unable to provide a timeline for O’Connor at this time.
