New development:Wanny throws crazy comp at JJ McCarthy after Moore warnings

Sherrone Moore will be in Washington, D.C., Thursday evening, but not for a recruiting trip.

The first-year Michigan head football coach is planning to attend President Joe Biden’s annual State of the Union address to the nation (9 p.m. ET) as a guest of Michigan congresswoman Debbie Dingell.

Dingell, a Democrat who represents Michigan’s sixth district, made the announcement Thursday morning

Over the course of the last season the coaches and captains of the University of Michigan national championship team instilled the importance of teamwork across their entire program,” Dingell said in a statement. “During the national championship celebration, I told the team and the gathered crowd that teamwork creates victors, and that Congress could learn a lesson from their success.

Dingell, 70, spoke at Michigan’s national championship celebration inside Crisler Center back in January. She represents the city of Ann Arbor and its surrounding communities, and has been in Congress since 2015.

Her longtime husband, John Dingell, served in the U.S. House of Representatives for 60 years. He died in 2019 at the age of 92. Dingell considered herself a member of the Republican Party until 1981, when she switched sides to the Democratic Party.

“I’m proud to host coach Sherrone Moore as my guest for the State of the Union and am committed to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in the importance of teamwork and bipartisanship in delivering wins for the American people.”
