Exclusively:Rams A NFL Draft Fit For Notre Lady QB Sam Hartman?

Even with Matthew Stafford coming back for another year in 2024, the Los Angeles Rams could very well be in the quarterback market this offseason.

Stafford can still play at a very high level, as he proved with a bounce-back campaign in 2023. However, with him turning 36 earlier this week, it remains to be seen how much. longer he can keep up this level of play. So while quarterback may not be the Rams’ most pressing need, they probably want to start considering who could be next in line at the very least.

The best place to find a potential successor could be in April’s draft, but even if the Rams decide to use their premium assets elsewhere, they could still get a quarterback later on. They may even find a signal-caller who fits like a glove in their system, and according to ESPN, Notre Dame’s Sam Hartman fits the bill.

Hartman’s name may be unfamiliar to more casual NFL fans, but he’s been around the college football world for a while now.

After spending five seasons at Wake Forest and tossing an ACC-record 110 touchdowns, he decided to transfer to Notre Dame for his sixth and final year of college football. In his lone season with the Fighting Irish, Hartman completed 63.5 percent of his passes for 2,689 yards, 24 touchdowns, and eight interceptions

Hartman also recently took part in the Senior Bowl, and while he reportedly looked good throughout the week, he struggled in the game itself, completing just seven of 25 passes for 69 yards and a pick. That comes with the caveat that he unexpectedly played the majority of his team’s snaps with Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. opting out at the last minute.

The 6-1, 210-pound quarterback has sharp accuracy even on the deep ball, as well as an ability to make quick decisions. He also has experience running a pro-style offense from his time at Notre Dame. However, one major weakness in his game is that he can get rattled quite easily from pressure
