Breaking:Here we Go The Wolverines officially announce Josh Priebe Jaishawn Barham

Thursday morning, just under a month after Michigan’s winter semester began, the Wolverines officially announced the additions of two transfers on campus. Offensive lineman Josh Priebe, hailing from Northwestern, and Maryland transfer linebacker Jaishawn Barham both are projected to compete and even win starting roles for the maize and blue this spring.

We are excited to add a pair of competitors to our program,” Michigan coach Sherrone Moore said in a press release. “Both have a great deal of game experience and have been key contributors for their respective Big Ten teams. We are prepared for them to put in the work this winter and are excited to see what they bring to our team in spring practices.

Combined, the two bring 52 career starts to a Wolverine team that will try to replace 17 2023 starters who departed for the NFL.

Priebe, listed by Michigan as 6-foot-5 and 310 pounds, played in 36 games and made 29 starts at offensive guard for Northwestern dating back to 2020. A captain for the Wildcats last fall, Priebe earned All-Big Ten honorable mention honors. The Niles (Mich.) native has more career starts (29) than all of the Wolverines’ other returning offensive linemen combined (25). The only other lineman with four or more career starts is Myles Hinton, who also transferred into the program after three seasons at Stanford.

This spring, Priebe is expected to compete alongside Giovanni El-Hadi, Raheem Anderson, Dominick Giudice, Amir Herring and others. Michigan lost six offensive linemen from its 2023 lineup that played a combined 4,200 snaps last fall, while its returning linemen played a combined 624 offensive snaps last season.

For what it’s worth, we projected Priebe — a former top-500 recruit in the class of 2020 and the No. 9 interior offensive lineman in 247Sports’ 2024 transfer portal rankings —to earn a starting job at right guard in our projected depth chart.
