Lawrence, the Jaguars’ starting quarterback in the first 49 regular-season games of his career, on Friday was ruled out of their game against the Carolina Panthers at EverBank Stadium Sunday at 1 p.m. Lawrence did not practice Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
He sustained a sprained AC joint in a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past Sunday.
C.J. Beathard is expected to start at quarterback for the Jaguars Sunday. He has been Lawrence’s backup the past three seasons. The seventh-year NFL veteran is 2-10 as a starter, with all 12 starts with the San Francisco 49ers.
Lawrence was the lone Jaguars player ruled out Friday, with wide receiver Zay Jones – who missed the loss to the Buccaneers with a hamstring injury – listed as questionable on Friday’s final injury report of the week after practicing limited all three days this week.Left tackle Cam Robinson (knee), who had his window to return from injured reserve opened this week, also was listed as questionable Friday. He practiced limited all three days this week.
Five players – left tackle Walker Little (hamstring), left guard Ezra Cleveland (knee), tight end Brenton Strange (foot), safety Andre Cisco (groin) and cornerback Tyson Campbell (finger) were listed without a game status on the injury report Friday after practicing limited all three days. Those five players are expected to be available to play Sunday.
Beathard (left shoulder) also was listed without a game status Friday after practicing full all week
