Breaking News:This is really sad one for the Villa Park guys

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa...

Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans’ injury appears to be more serious than just a failed late fitness test, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The Belgium international was touch and go for the game against Brentford on 17 December but was completely ruled out of the Sheffield United clash on the 22nd and Unai Emery then stated he’ll be out for two weeks

The injury expert claims that this could mean he did not respond well to training or recovery and will be out until the new year.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:

Most likely a failed fitness test before the game last weekend.

Generally, that means he either didn’t respond well to training/recovery with more discomfort or soreness than the medical team found acceptable.

Emery then ruled him out for two weeks after the mid-week so it was worse than first expected
