Leeds Joined will waste time close £25m as player decline proceeds
The steady decline in Brenden Aaronson’s performance will significantly lower his value.
Despite a recent setback, Leeds United will attempt to regain promotion to the Premier League at the first attempt.
In midweek, the Whites lost to Sunderland 1-0, ending their seven-game winning streak and halting their momentum heading into the holiday season.
Due to Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League last season, the club signed off 16 departures from Elland Road, with Daniel Farke dealing with some high-profile departures in Jack Harrison, Rodrigo Moreno, and Luis Sinisterra.
The Yorkshire club is currently 10 points behind second-placed Ipswich Town and will face a difficult battle to overtake them or league leaders Leicester City come May
Brenden Aaronson, a US national, was another player to leave the team. He signed a season-long loan deal with Union Berlin, a Bundesliga team.
The attacking midfielder, 23, has continued to disappoint since making the switch, and Leeds is almost certain to lose money on the significant fee they paid for him in 2022
Aaronson left Red Bull Salzburg for West Yorkshire, where he made 66 appearances and scored 13 goals and 15 assists for a reported £25 million.
Jesse Marsch, Javi Gracia, and Sam Allardyce all failed to bring out the best in Aaronson in his first season at Leeds. Aaronson struggled to adjust to the strenuous demands of top-flight English football.
From 40 matches across all competitions, the man from New Jersey only got one goal and three assists for Leeds, who finished 19th and ended their three-year Premier League run.
