Latest Update:Alabama endorser Jaylen Mbakwe satisfying five-star status in Orlando

It was an impressive Early Signing Period for Alabama successfully signing a top remaining target and flipping two others. The Crimson Tide has the No. 2 class with 23 signees.

Zay Mincey (S) and Daniel Hill (RB), a pair of four-stars, are set to publicly announce their college decisions during NBC’s LIVE broadcast of the All-American Bowl in San Antonio, TX on Saturday, Jan. 6.

On Sunday afternoon, 247Sports Steve Wiltfong submitted a Crystal Ball forecast in Alabama’s favor for both Mincey and Hill. Mincey’s finalists also include Florida, Miami and Florida State. Mississippi State, Tennessee and South Carolina are Hill’s finalists.

The top-ranked transfer portal prospect came off the board last weekend when Walter Nolen picked Ole Miss as his destination, and more highly regarded transfers followed his lead in making their decisions over the last few days. Fellow top-10 prospect Nyland Green — a former five-star recruit and cornerback heading to Purdue — headlines the list of notable commitments from the final week of the calendar year.

Some of the nation’s top programs made splashes via the portal this week. College Football Playoff participants Alabama, Michigan and Washington secured instant-impact talent from highly rated prospects, while schools such as Wisconsin, North Carolina, Colorado and Missouri added notable players, as well.

None of the aforementioned teams surpassed Ole Miss in the rankings, though, as the Rebels still boast the No. 1 haul for the 2024 cycle. Nolen is the top pickup in Lane Kiffin’s tremendous class, which also includes a quartet of four-star commits. The rate of transfer commitments figures to continue at a high rate heading into January and through the closing of the winter window.
