While pursuing Bryce Underwood, Sherrone Moore appears confident in Michigan’s quarterback plans for the 2025 class.
Despite having no quarterback currently committed in the 2025 class, Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore said the Wolverines will be fine. Is Bryce Underwood why Moore seems confident?
Michigan’s had three starting quarterbacks this season and none of them are long-term solutions at the position. In short, Michigan will need a new starting quarterback heading into the 2025 season. Whether that starting quarterback is already on the roster like true freshman Jadyn Davis, is added via the transfer portal, or ultimately is a 2025 commit remains to be seen.
Michigan doesn’t even have a quarterback commit in the 2025 class presently, with four-star prospect Carter Smith decommitting last week. Despite this development as well as Michigan ranking No. 128 in passing offense, things may not be as bleak as they appear on the surface.
On Monday, Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore was asked about not having a quarterback in the 2025 class.
We’ll be fine,” Moore said with a smile.
While only Moore knows why he had a grin at that moment, it’s easy to surmise that it could be because of Michigan bolstering their efforts on the NIL (name, image, likeness) front.
Per Pete Nakos of On3, Michigan is pursuing the No. 1 overall prospect and No. 1 quarterback in the 2025 class, LSU commit Bryce Underwood. Underwood plays football in Belleville, Michigan, a town right down the road from Ann Arbor via I-94. Nakos’ reporting indicates that Michigan offered Underwood a comprehensive NIL package over $5 million over 3-4 years, which is “on par” with what LSU has offered him.
Michigan General Manager Sean Magee was recently in attendance for one of Underwood’s games, and that’s important because Magee coordinates Michigan’s NIL initiatives. Magee is as integral of a recruiter as any on Michigan’s staff because of the role he plays not only in NIL, but the role he plays in identifying talent.
