NFL Week 5: Former Huskers in the league

Several veteran Nebraska players showed up in week five of the NFL.

Lavonte David played more than 80 snaps in Tampa Bay’s loss to Atlanta, but still managed to nab an interception for the Bucs.

The Raiders fell on the road to Denver in an AFC West battle, but former Husker running back Ameer Abdullah saw his biggest use on offense of the season and scored his first touchdown of 2024 late in the loss.

Here’s a look at how former Huskers fared in week five of the NFL schedule

Lavonte David, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Started at linebacker in Tampa’s loss to Atlanta. David recorded eight tackles, defended passes and intercepted a pass that he returned for seven yards. David played 86 snaps against Atlanta.

Maliek Collins, San Francisco 49ers: Started at defensive tackle in the 49ers’ loss to Arizona. Collins recorded three tackles on 38 defensive snaps and five on special teams.

Trey Palmer, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Was inactive for the Buccaneers’ loss to Atlanta. Palmer left the game in week four with a concussion.

Nick Gates, Philadelphia Eagles: Philadelphia was on a bye in week five

Ameer Abdullah, Las Vegas Raiders: Carried five times for 42 yards and scored a rushing touchdown in the Raiders’ road loss at Denver. Abdullah also caught three passes for nine yards, returned one kickoff for 23 yards and fair caught two punts. Abdullah played 31 snaps on offense and 16 on special teams in the game.

Khalil Davis, Houston Texans: Appeared as a reserve defensive lineman making two tackles and one sack in Houston’s win over Buffalo. Davis had two tackles for loss and a quarterback hurry in his 22 defensive snaps and five on special teams.
