Good News: Bruce Springsteen Reveals New Album ‘Western Stars’ Is Coming Soon…

There was something behind those mysterious desert pictures The Boss had been posting on his social media this week

Bruce Springsteen, a 20-time GRAMMY winner and legendary figure in American rock music, revealed today that his upcoming album, Western Stars, will be available on June 14.

It’s his first studio album since High Hopes in 2014 and his 19th overall. The lead single, “Hello Sunshine,” and its music video will be released by him at midnight tonight.

The announcement today came after he shared a string of caption-free photos of the desert on social media every day this week, setting the internet abuzz with rumors of a new Springsteen album.

With this record, I’ve gone back to recording solo songs that have sweeping, cinematic orchestrations and character-driven lyrics. “It’s a record in a jewel box,” Springsteen tweeted today.

The upcoming album is inspired by “pop records from Southern California from the late 1960s and early 1970s,” which include tracks that cover “a sweeping range of American themes, of highways and desert spaces, of isolation and community and the permanence of home and hope,” according to a press release.

Along with Ron Aniello, who he collaborated with on his previous two albums, High Hopes and 2016’s Chapter & Verse, which functioned as a companion to his GRAMMY-nominated memoir, Born to Run, the Boss co-produced the album.
