Breaking: Manly Sea Eagles head coach has announced his departure.
Rumblings: Seibold will face “extreme pressure” if Manly fails to make it to the playoffs once more.
Brad Arthur has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Manly coach Anthony Seibold, who will face “intense pressure” to stay in his position if the team fails to make the playoffs once more this season.
When the Sea Eagles fired club veteran Des Hasler for Seiboold at the end of 2022, it shocked the rugby league world.
After being abruptly fired as the Broncos coach in 2020 while leading the team to its first-ever wooden spoon, Seibold had not had a position in the NRL.
Manly finished 12th last year and this season they sit delicately poised in ninth with nine games to play.
Seibold’s side have a soft run home and the NRL 360 panel believe if he can’t guide them to finals then recently-sacked Eels coach Arthur could be in line to replace him.
James Hooper stated on NRL 360, “They go to Townsville this weekend, they get their superstar Tommy Turbo back, but there are just a few rumblings (about the coach).”
“They truly need to make a run at the finals after finishing 12th the previous year. I don’t believe there are any concerns about Anthony Seibold’s contract for the upcoming season if they play in September.
However, I believe that if they miss the finals, things might get a little rowdier and Seibs might get a little push back.
“You have a fantastic coach in Brad Arthur; we witnessed his abilities at Parramatta, where he led them to the grand final.” He’s currently not participating.
“It depends on Manly not making the finals, but I think he has a chance.
“Don’t make the finals again if they don’t, with a cozy run into September 12th last year… Is that a triumph?
