With final exams in session at the University of North Carolina, the Diamond Heels had the weekend off. But as head coach Scott Forbes tells Inside Carolina’s Tommy Ashley and Matt Clements, there is no rest for his coaching staff or the team as preparations for a midweek tilt versus Campbell and the last home ACC series against Louisville are the current focus.

It stinks. But with the rain, maybe it worked out in our favor because it did rain a ton here. I don’t know if we would have been able to play yesterday. But we gave our guys off Thursday and Friday – they did lift on Friday and exams started Thursday. They didn’t have exams Saturday and Sunday so we got the indoor (Carolina’s indoor football facility) because no other teams are really using it at the moment.

So we moved around good on Saturday and just got the blood flowing and got in the cages in short stints. Pitchers did their thing. Some guys had bullpens, some had simulated games, Jason DeCaro on Friday and Shea Sprague on Saturday because they pitch those days. And a lot of pitchers got on the dirt.

We’ve been recruiting as well, as coaches, on the road all over the place. And then yesterday, we were in the indoor, again, but it was good. We can do ground balls, we can move around. Then today, we don’t have that many guys with exams today so we are hoping to get on the field
