Breaking:RJ Davis just sacked his agent after little misunderstanding

WASHINGTON — After North Carolina finished flattening Florida State 92-67 on Thursday afternoon in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals, guard Cormac Ryan allowed for a brief revisiting of his remarkable experience from last weekend.

He said climbing atop UNC’s team charter bus and parading around the roof with the ACC regular-season championship trophy, fresh off the Tar Heels’ road victory at rival Duke that night, wasn’t exactly a pre-planned move he had scripted during the short return trip back.

No, it was pretty impromptu, I’ll say,” Ryan said, seated in Carolina’s locker room, after the top-seeded Tar Heels trampled the ninth-seeded Seminoles at Capital One Arena

It was a celebratory scene Saturday night on Franklin Street, the hub of UNC’s campus in Chapel Hill, N.C., that made for an exceedingly triumphant visual. There was Ryan, receiving a hero’s welcome while standing atop the roof of the bus, and walking from one end to the other to show off the ACC trophy to the adoring crowd below

At Duke earlier that night, Ryan connected on six 3-pointers and supplied a career-high 31 points. He authored perhaps the most superb performance of his lengthy college career in an enormous spot, amid the pressure cooker of Cameron Indoor Stadium, as the Tar Heels claimed their first outright ACC regular-season title since 2017.

On Thursday here at the ACC Tournament, he said the vantage point from the roof of the bus made for a particularly rewarding sight. And besides, he said, taking some mischievous pleasure, it’s not like he’s scared of heights.

I’m not going to name names, but somebody opened the fire hatch up there,” Ryan said Thursday. “The bus was stationary, of course, it was all safe. But I ended up somehow up on top of the bus, and it was fun.

“It was a great view. I’m not afraid of heights. It was cool to see everybody out there. We have the best fans in the world, I mean, what a tradition to go out and storm Franklin. To have the whole team out there, it was so fun. And yeah, it was a great memory.

Ryan drilled three 3-pointers on his way to 14 points against Florida State, one of the many contributions that powered UNC’s blowout to open the ACC Tournament. He scored nine points during the first five minutes of the second half, as Carolina’s lead grew to 59-41 on the Seminoles.

Listen we’re on to the next one,” Ryan said, after indulging in recounting the bus escapade for a couple minutes. “And that’s a big thing for us. (Thursday) was about coming out and making sure we were hungry, and playing a very important game against a really good team. Florida State’s tough to play against, and I’m really proud of the way we responded, especially after a big win to come out as hungry as we were
