Breaking Just Now:The Niners just sign a new kicker really sensational move
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has never been the one to shy away from trash talk. The Pro Bowl receiver has been taking shots at the Philadelphia Eagles even after Philly flamed out in the wild-card round of the playoffs. After the Niners’ overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, Fletcher Cox got the last laugh
Last week, Samuel had said that he doesn’t consider the Eagles a rivalry after the Niners beat Philadelphia 42-19 in Week 13 in the middle of the Eagles’ inexplicable late-season slump. “That’s over with” were his exact words.
Samuel had previously called Eagles cornerback James Bradberry “trash” on a podcast, after putting together one of the best games in his career with 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns against him.
There was an expectation that the Eagles and the Niners could be a budding rivalry going forward as the two teams were set up to be two of the most dominant teams in the NFC. Philadelphia had beaten the 49ers 31-7 in last season’s NFC Championship
Eagles Pro Bowl defensive tackle Fletcher Cox took to social media after the Super Bowl on Sunday night to troll Deebo Samuel and his ridiculous remarks.
Telling Samuel to keep the “Eagles out of his mouth”, Cox also reminded the 28-year-old wideout that the 49ers have not in fact won a Super Bowl with this core, unlike the Eagles.
Samuel played a part in the Niners’ struggles. Despite having a game-high 11 targets, Samuel had only three catches for 33 yards. He briefly exited the game with a hamstring injury in the third quarter and was a non-factor throughout.
This was a similarly quiet performance to the one he had against the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round when he finished with two catches and 24 yards.
Samuel might disagree but it seems like the rivalry between these two sides isn’t going anywhere. If anything, he may have contributed to the blood boiling between Philadelphia and San Francisco. Until the two sides hopefully meet in 2024, Eagles fans and Cox will enjoy reveling in Samuel’s failures.
