Jaylen Brown Still Weighing Surgery Option for Meniscus Injury

Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown is reportedly still considering whether to undergo surgery for a lingering meniscus injury that has been affecting his offseason preparations. While the injury is not believed to be severe, sources close to the situation say that Brown and the team’s medical staff are weighing the long-term benefits of a surgical procedure against the potential recovery timeline and its impact on next season.

The All-Star guard experienced discomfort in his knee late in the Celtics’ playoff run and underwent a series of evaluations following the team’s postseason exit. Initial reports indicated that the injury was a minor meniscus tear, one that could potentially be managed through rest and rehab. However, the possibility of minor arthroscopic surgery remains on the table to ensure the issue doesn’t linger or worsen.

“Jaylen is taking a cautious and smart approach to his recovery,” one team source told reporters. “He understands the importance of being at full strength for the start of next season, but also doesn’t want to rush into surgery if it’s not absolutely necessary.”

Brown, 28, is coming off one of his strongest seasons yet, helping lead the Celtics deep into the playoffs while averaging over 23 points per game. His durability and athleticism have been key components of his game, which makes any decision involving his knee health particularly significant for both him and the organization.

The Celtics are expected to provide further updates as Brown’s decision becomes clearer in the coming weeks. In the meantime, team officials remain optimistic that whatever path he chooses, Brown will be ready to return to full form in time for training camp or early in the 2025-26 NBA season.
