Five-Star 295-Pound Offensive Guard Donovan Jackson Flips Commitment to Oklahoma Sooners After Rejecting Tennessee, Bulldogs

The recruiting world was shaken late Tuesday night when Donovan Jackson, the highly coveted five-star offensive guard, announced his decision to flip his commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners. Just weeks ago, Jackson had been seen as a near-lock for either Tennessee or Georgia, but a late push from Brent Venables and his staff changed everything.

Jackson, a 6-foot-4, 295-pound mauler from Texas, had been one of the most sought-after linemen in the 2025 class. He initially leaned toward Georgia, drawn to their dominant offensive line tradition. Tennessee also made a strong case, offering him the opportunity to be a day-one starter in Josh Heupel’s high-tempo attack. But in a surprising turn of events, Jackson made an official visit to Norman last weekend, and that’s when everything changed.

“I just felt at home at Oklahoma,” Jackson said in a statement. “Coach Venables and Coach Bedenbaugh laid out a plan for me to develop into an NFL-caliber lineman, and I trust their vision. It wasn’t an easy decision, but in the end, I knew where I belonged.”

Sources close to the recruitment revealed that Oklahoma’s recent success in developing linemen for the pros played a major role in Jackson’s decision. Additionally, NIL opportunities in Norman and a strong connection with quarterback commit Jaxon Wilson sealed the deal.

With Jackson’s commitment, the Sooners now boast one of the top offensive line classes in the nation. For Tennessee and Georgia, it’s back to the drawing board, as they look to fill a gap left by one of the most dominant high school blockers in the

country.
